Wasgamuwa National Park

Wasgamuwa National Park is a pristine wildlife sanctuary nestled in Sri Lanka's North Central and Central Provinces, celebrated for its raw, untamed wilderness and high concentration of wild Asian elephants. Bound by the majestic Mahaweli and Amban rivers, this less-crowded reserve features a diverse landscape of primary tropical dry evergreen forests, sprawling grasslands, and ancient rock ruins. Visitors can embark on uncrowded 4x4 safaris to observe massive elephant herds up close, alongside diverse species like the rare sloth bear, leopards, water buffaloes, and over 140 varieties of colorful birds.
