By Train (Most Scenic)-from Colombo Fort (2.5 to 3 hours). By Taxi or Express Bus (Fastest)-from Colombo (2.5 hours), By Local Coastal Bus (Cheapest)-from Colombo (4 to 5 hours).

Best Time to Visit

Late Afternoon to Sunset (4:30 PM – 6:30 PM)- to photograph the silhouettes of palm trees against the golden sky. Early Morning (6:30 AM – 9:00 AM)-snorkel with wild sea turtles at Turtle Bay. Sunrise / Dawn (6:00 AM – 6:30 AM)- Commercial whale-watching.
